This past weekend I visited Lake Placid with my son 's peewee hockey team. Having no expectations save for the 1980 Olympics, I was really surprised at how comfortable and scenic Lake Placid is and came away with a great destination for another family adventure. In winter, Lake Placid shines with so many adventures to do from downhill skiing at Whiteface Mountain in eastern North America's longest vertical, to experiencing Bobsledding to skating around the Olympic speed skating track.
